Introduction

There are seasons in life when things simply don’t make sense.

You’re trying to do what’s right. You’re walking in obedience. You’re showing up, serving, believing—and yet, it seems like others who aren’t walking with God are thriving.

Meanwhile, you’re left wondering:
God, what are You doing?

Psalm 37 speaks directly into this tension.

Written by David later in life, this Psalm carries the wisdom of someone who has seen both injustice and the faithfulness of God over time. Instead of reacting with frustration, David offers something better:

A steady way to live when life feels unfair.

1. Don’t Let Frustration Take Root

“Do not fret because of evildoers…” (Psalm 37:1)

Fretting is more than worry. It’s the internal agitation that rises when we compare our lives to others—especially when things don’t seem fair.

But here’s the danger:
What you focus on will shape your peace.

When we fix our eyes on others, we become unsettled.
When we fix our eyes on God, we become steady.

2. Keep Trusting—and Keep Doing Good

“Trust in the Lord and do good…” (Psalm 37:3)

Trust is not passive. It’s active.

It looks like continuing to live with integrity, obedience, and faith—even when the results aren’t immediate.

We often want clarity before obedience.
But God invites us to obey while trusting Him with the outcome.

That’s where real faith is formed.

3. Rediscover Delight in God

“Delight yourself in the Lord…” (Psalm 37:4)

Delight shifts your focus from what you lack to who God is.

When you begin to enjoy His presence, your desires start to change. You stop striving for things that won’t satisfy and begin to align with what truly matters.

Delight transforms desire.

4. Release Control

“Commit your way to the Lord…” (Psalm 37:5)

To commit means to place the full weight of your life into God’s hands.

Your plans.
Your expectations.
Your timeline.

You cannot carry everything and rest at the same time.

Surrender is where rest begins.

5. Learn the Strength of Stillness

“Be still before the Lord and wait patiently…” (Psalm 37:7)

Waiting can feel like nothing is happening—but God is always working behind the scenes.

While you wait:

  • He is aligning things
  • He is preparing you
  • He is moving in ways you cannot yet see

Stillness is not weakness.
It is trust without striving.

6. Trust That Your Steps Are Secure

“The steps of a good person are ordered by the Lord…” (Psalm 37:23)

Even when life feels uncertain, God is guiding.

Even when you stumble, you are not abandoned.

Your life is not fragile in His hands.

7. Remember Who Your Refuge Is

“The Lord is their stronghold…” (Psalm 37:39)

At the end of it all, David brings us back to this truth:

God Himself is your refuge.

Not just what He provides.
Not just what He does.
But who He is.

When God becomes your foundation, your peace is no longer tied to your circumstances.

For Leaders in the Harvest

If you are serving, leading, and pouring into others, this message is for you.

Because when you are not anchored, it’s easy to:

  • grow weary
  • fall into comparison
  • lose heart

But when your life is rooted in trust and surrender, something shifts.

You carry peace into every room.
You continue doing good without striving.
You remain steady—even in uncertain seasons.

The harvest doesn’t need more busy workers.
It needs anchored women.

A Final Encouragement

If you’ve been quietly asking,
“God, why does this feel so hard?”

Hear this:

Stay steady.
Keep trusting.
Keep walking with Him.

Even now, He is working in ways you cannot yet see.

Prayer

Lord,
Teach me to trust You when life feels uncertain.
Guard my heart from frustration and comparison.
Help me to delight in You, surrender to You, and wait on You.

Establish my steps and be my stronghold.

Amen.
